Grab Your Carry-On and Getaway!

TANGO Buck earnings really add up fast when you book your personal and business travel with Expedia through uTANGO. No travel plans yet this summer? Here are a few suggestions to get you going!

With hectic work schedules, it can be tough to take a traditional 1-2 week vacation. Many couples and even families opt to take several weekend getaways throughout the summer instead. Here are some of my favorite weekend destinations:

Orlando

Orlando's reputation as a family fun destination is well-deserved, but there are plenty of attractions for adults as well. Personally, I love theme parks. I've visited all the Disney Parks, Sea World, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios and other Orlando attractions like the Kennedy Space Center. But if you're not a theme park kind-of-person, you can spend a whole weekend relaxing by the pool, shopping at nearby outlet centers, and dining/ partying at Universal Studios City Walk, Downtown Disney or Pleasure Island.

When I'm traveling with my husband, I like to stay at the Peabody Orlando Hotel. Even though it's a short drive from Disney World, the atmosphere at the 4-star Peabody is relaxed, adult, and sophisticated. The Peabody is known for the famous Peabody Ducks that parade through the hotel daily at 11am to take their daily dip in the lobby fountain while guests enjoy high tea service. San Francisco

San Francisco's reputation for fine dining is well deserved, and it's proximity to Napa and Sonoma makes it an ideal getaway for wine connoisseurs. I particularly like the Argonaut Hotel. It's a Kimpton Hotel with that cool boutique hotel vibe. You can request a cheerful goldfish for your room. The Argonaut is located by Fisherman's Wharf and is only 2 blocks from Ghirardelli Square.

If you're in good shape, you can take a bike tour from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito before catching a ferry back to San Francisco. Since I'm a history buff, I enjoyed touring Alcatraz and taking an architectural tour of the city. My main agenda for the trip is to eat my way around San Francisco's neighborhoods-especially Chinatown and North Beach/ Little Italy. Fisherman's Wharf may be touristy, but the fun restaurants and cute souvenir shops make up for it. Read more about San Francisco and book you trip at Expedia now

Montreal

Flights to Montreal from the Northeast are plentiful and cheap, which makes it a great location for a romantic, French-themed getaway. Stroll hand-in-hand with your special someone through Old Montreal (Le Vieux-Montreal) and along the St. Lawrence water (Le Vieux-Port). The narrow streets and beautiful old buildings are very old world. Be sure to stop to admire the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica. Explore cute boutiques and stylish art galleries.

Montreal has a great Metro system, which makes getting around easy. If you enjoy gardening, check out the Jardin Botanique (Montreal's Botanical Garden.) I took some beautiful photos there, and they also had one of the best bonsai collections I've ever seen.

Most importantly, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a sidewalk café. My mouth still waters when I think about all the amazing pastries, crepes and other French treats I consumed on my last trip to Montreal. (Editor's note: Yum!) Check Expedia and find out what else is happening in Montreal with their destination guide.

Phoenix/Scottsdale

Although I'm not a golfer, I had to mention Phoenix/Scottsdale. During the summer months, you can find great deals here. Many travelers avoid Phoenix in the summer due to the heat, but I highly recommend it. Yes...golfing is tough in 90+ degree weather if you aren't used to it, but there is so much more to do. Since it is unlikely to rain, your vacation won't be ruined by bad weather. So grab a spot under a pool umbrella, lather on the sunscreen and relax.

The Phoenix area is home to some of the best spas in the nation, including the Phoenician, the Boulders Resort and Golden Door Spa, the Biltmore, and many more. Who doesn't love a world-class spa experience? Enjoy a couple's massage or a special "Blackberry" hand massage to get rid of thumb and hand pain from typing on those tiny keys!

I also believe that there are some sights everyone should see before they die, and the Grand Canyon is one of them. You can book a "flight-seeing tour" on Expedia from Phoenix and fly over the Grand Canyon. The price is reasonable and the view...priceless. Save up to 30% right now on Expedia packages to Phoenix and Scottsdale.
